ati-drivers 10.11 with experimental .37 support
the patch for the ebuild above

Description JokeyRhyme 2010-11-21 19:39:01 UTC
A new driver for AMD Radeon HD graphics cards was released a few days ago.

I cheated and just renamed the 10.10 ebuild and it seemed to work, although I had to fetch the file manually in order to get past an SSL certificate error.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
I tested with
ebuild --skip-manifest ./ati-drivers-10.11.ebuild merge
Actual Results:
ebuild merged just fine

Expected Results:
As an owner of the new HD 6870 card, I did expect the "unsupported hardware" watermark to go away. The fact that it didn't makes me think either AMD still doesn't have an official driver for it, or the 10.10 driver was installed instead.

ebuild

based 100% on the 10.10 ebuild, just with a new name
seemed to work for me but YMMV

thank you :) i already notified lu_zero about that.

Also i was working on kernel .37 support but it fails at runtime, hard to investigate.

For .36 kernel and older nothing needs to be changed to 10.10 ebuild

ati-drivers 10.11 with experimental .37 support

If someone wants to test, this is an _experimental_ version of ati-drivers 10.11 to try to support kernel .37 with a simple patch (attached soon). It should work with .37rc1 and i hope with rc3, doesn't work with rc2. It compiles but it has a runtime faliure at Xorg start with rc2.

I also mark this bug as fixed since 10.11 is in tree now (but without .37 kernel support)
