Description Timothy M. Shead 2003-11-27 10:09:37 UTC
Included please find the attached aqsis-cvs.ebuild.

Aqsis is a GPL'd 3D graphics render engine that implements the REYES algorithm and conforms to the RenderMan specification. Aqsis is uniquely suited to artists who wish to produce professional 3D graphics, up-to-and-including full-length feature films.

I suggest media-gfx for the category. The rationale for providing a live CVS ebuild is that the software has improved considerably over the 0.8 release, especially the build system, and a 0.9 snapshot isn't available.

aqsis-0.9.0.ebuild

This new "regular" ebuild replaces the originally-submitted "live" CVS ebuild,
and takes advantage of the just-released Aqsis 0.9.0 tarball.
Comment 3 Rene Androsch 2004-02-18 10:20:29 UTC
Could this be added to portage? K-3D uses aqsis and to get K-3D into portage, this would also be cool to be in portage!
Comment 4 Rene Androsch 2004-02-18 11:10:40 UTC
Ehm, ehm. How do I install this *.ebuild ?
emerge -p aqsis-0.9.0.ebuild
does not work.
Comment 5 Timothy M. Shead 2004-02-18 11:32:26 UTC
For ebuilds to work, they have to have the correct directory structure in the portage tree, you can't just download a file to some arbitrary location on your filesystem and emerge it.

You'll have to refer to the ebuild instructions on how to set things up (a little too detailed to go into here, and I'm just learning). Or, lobby to get this ebuild into the portage tree :)

Cheers,
Tim

surprisingly k3d is in portage, but aqsis isn't :/

news on getting this into portage?
It would be nice since, since k3d ( see bug #51440 ) is able to use this renderer.
