I suggest you make it easier for the reader by providing the test to confirm the required setting:

 # grep CONFIG_PACKET /usr/src/linux/.config
 CONFIG_PACKET=y
 #

This concerns an "important" blurb in section 4.b "WPA Supplicant"

Important: You have to have CONFIG_PACKET enabled in your kernel for wpa_supplicant to work. 

Since this is critical, help the reader instead of assuming she knows how to make that determination.

Sure, why not? Fixed in CVS.
