I have a empty directory /var/cache/g-octave/ root@orca:/root(37)# ll /var/cache/g-octave/ total 0 I found the elog message: To be able to use g-octave with the shipped package database, please edit your configuration file, clean your db directory and run: emerge --config =g-octave-0.4.1 So doing this I was able to install octave/packages/gsl-1.0.8. But a hint in the man-page about initialization would also be nice. Thanks for reporting back after finding the solution. Given that this situation is already covered by the elog, not sure if the maintainers will want to repeat it elsewhere, but we'll let them make that call. |
