Overlay takes priority over Portage. > PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/var/lib/layman/zugaina /var/lib/layman/sunrise > /var/lib/layman /usr/local/portage" I told the maintainer of the zugaina overlay about that, the ffmpeg should be removed within 24h (as far as I understood his explanation, the rsync tree is generated from a subversion repo once a day) You can temporarily emerge the right version using PORTDIR_OVERLAY='' emerge -av1 ffmpeg This will ignore your overlay setting for that merge only Thank you Samuli, Thank you Cyprien.
