Aimsniff needs to depend on dev-perl/DBI, it emerges fine but does not run
without this also installed.

Well sure, it _looks_ to be covered, at least on a system with the mysql use flag set.  However, if you actually try it on a system not using mysql, it'll be quite obvious that it isn't.
