Description Eric F. GARIOUD 2010-10-27 10:42:37 UTC
1/ When launching avidemux-2.5.4 QT4 version, Tools/Preferences/Audio/AudioDevice always shows Dummy irrespective of the active setting for preceeding application termination.
2/ Configuring this setting to Jack has no effect. When trying to play a video, no sound is output AND QJackCTL's connections window does not show any new client for Jack.
3/ Configuring this setting to Alsa (With the same asoundrc than in bug 338885 redirecting alsa default's output to jack) has no effect either. When trying to play a video, no sound is output AND QJackCTL's connections window does not show any new client for Jack
4/ Reproducible Always.
=========
5/ This problem only occurs with avidemux-2.5.4 QT version. It does not occur with avidemux-2.5.4 GTK version and does not occur with avidemux-2.5.3-r3 QT version.
=========
6/ Avidemux built with : USE="aac aften alsa amr dts gtk jack libsamplerate mp3 nls qt4 sdl truetype vorbis x264 xv xvid -esd -oss -pulseaudio"
List of qt-xyz packages version and use flags :
qt-gui-4.6.3 USE="accessibility cups dbus exceptions glib gtk mng nas qt3support tiff (-aqua) -debug -nis -pch -raster -trace -xinerama"
qt-svg-4.6.3 USE="exceptions iconv (-aqua) -debug -pch"

qt-sql-4.6.3-r2 USE="exceptions iconv mysql odbc qt3support sqlite (-aqua) -debug (-firebird) -freetds -pch -postgres"
qt-qt3support-4.6.3 USE="accessibility exceptions kde phonon (-aqua) -debug -pch"
qt-dbus-4.6.3  USE="exceptions (-aqua) -debug -pch"
qt-multimedia-4.6.3 USE="exceptions iconv (-aqua) -debug -pch"
qt-webkit-4.6.3-r1 USE="dbus exceptions kde (-aqua) -debug -pch"
===========
7/ could well be that avidemux-2.5.4 QT version would go better with qt-xyz thingies > 4.6.3 in which case a simple directive in avidemux' build would be satisfying however, and I apologize for this, I will not be able to test as I simply cannot afford going tildarch with qt-*

Upstream has already developped a patch for this bug :
http://avidemux.org/admForum/misc.php?item=30&download=1
BTW, nothing to do with qt libs.

Can you please attach this bug here? I don't want to create an account to that forum just for that
