Description Devios McShady 2003-11-23 20:36:36 UTC
I can't emerge -u world because glibc fails to compile with a less-than-useful
error message.

My current glibc gcc versions are 2.3.2-r1 and 3.2.3-r2, respectively.

The line that fails and error message are shown below, followed by my emerge info:

ERROR:

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
emerge -u world again

Actual Results:
same

Expected Results:
finished compiling glibc without any errors...

I just remembered that I have been having problems trying to update gcc, glibc for a while now. I don't know if this unresolved bug that I posted might be relevant: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30526
Comment 2 Maurice van der Pot (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-11 16:50:38 UTC
Devios, is this still a problem with the latest stable versions of glibc and gcc?
Comment 3 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-07 19:25:40 UTC
no response - assuming fixed in latest glibc/gcc versions.
