So if you type 'notify-send foobar' and only libnotify and awesome is installed, the message will popup? Taking into account #323593 (and I've heard Enlightenment has its own daemon), maybe it's worth not to list daemons RDEPEND in ebuild, but elog something like "Notification will work only if your DE supports its, otherwise install..."?
