Description Scott Jacobsen 2010-10-18 04:04:26 UTC
Hulu videos do not play in firefox 3.6.9 and chromium 7.0.517.41 (0) on my system. There is no obvious error message. The video never appears in the web page. Youtube videos do play.

www-plugins/adobe-flash-10.1.85.3 does play Hulu videos on my system.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install adobe-flash-10.2.161.23_pre20100927
2. Try and play a video on Hulu

Actual Results:
No flash video window is rendered in the web page

Expected Results:
Flash video should play.

I uninstalled nspluginwrapper and re-installed this version of adobe-flash and still the video did not play.

Use flags are www-plugins/adobe-flash-10.2.161.23_pre20100927 [10.1.85.3] USE="32bit%* 64bit%* (multilib) -nspluginwrapper"

Thanks for the report.

The bad news is that as with most flash bugs there is nothing I can do about it.

In this case, I believe Hulu is at fault. According to at least one source[1], Hulu is blocking both the 64-bit and 32-bit version of Adobe's "square" release (aka 10.2).

Just wanted to mention I'm having the same problem. adobe-flash-10.1.85.3 works fine, so I'll just mask 10.2.161.23_pre20100927.

Yes, if you really want to watch hulu video, the only real "solution" right now is to not install 10.2, an fall back to 10.1.

The only other recourse would be to contact hulu and convince them to allow 10.2, or contact Adobe and have them accelerate the release schedule so 10.2 goes to a real realease sooner...
