Bug 341527 – sys-fs/lvm2-2.02.74 lvcreate error during snapshot volume creation

sys-fs/lvm2-2.02.74 and sys-fs/lvm2-2.02.73 produce a curious error message when creating a snapshot logical volume:-

 ~ # lvcreate -s /dev/System/HOME -n HOME_SNAP -L1G
  Internal error: Maps lock 13647872 < unlock 13651968
  Internal error: Maps lock 13758464 < unlock 13762560
  Logical volume "HOME_SNAP" created
 ~ #


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. lvcreate -s /dev/System/HOME -n HOME_SNAP -L1G



Actual Results:  
This happens when creating any snapshot volume, as far as I can tell. Everything /seems/ OK afterwards, so I don't know how serious this "error" is, or what the significance of the numbers are; but it needs highlighting in case the ramifications are more profound than I realise.

Expected Results:  
This command should return silently, apart from reporting the logical volume being successfully created.

A similar situation obtains when using lvremove, thus...

 ~ # lvremove -f /dev/System/HOME_SNAP

  Internal error: Maps lock 13709312 < unlock 13713408

Kernel config file

It occurs to me that this problem might arise from some kernel issue, or maybe a misconfiguration on my part. I attach the kernel config file for reference.

That was fixed in upstream kernel 2.6.35.3 and sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.35-r4.

Unfortunately >=2.6.35 isn't stable on any arch yet. The error message is annoying, I know, but it's completely harmless. It doesn't break anything.

This is what I seem to have found - it's just that being such a fundamental part of my (LVM based) server, it's disconcerting at least.

For what it's worth, I've recently upgraded my kernel to 2.6.34-gentoo-r12 and the problem, or the message at least, seems to have gone away?
