Patch to remove offending keysym

Description William Throwe 2010-10-01 21:15:36 UTC
$ gv
Warning: translation table syntax error: Unknown keysym name: apLineDel
Warning: ... found while parsing '<Key>apLineDel:       GV_Page(page+5)        '
Warning: String to TranslationTable conversion encountered errors

This causes processing of keybinding information to abort, breaking several bindings.

This may not be a problem with gv itself. It appears to be caused by:
app-text/gv tries to use apLineDel
x11-libs/libX11 dropped an internal database of keysyms in version 1.3.6 which defined apLineDel and started using the list from xproto
x11-proto/xproto doesn't define apLineDel

Reproducible: Always

$ emerge --info app-text/gv x11-libs/libX11 x11-proto/xproto

Patch to remove offending keysym
Comment 3 Christian Speckner 2010-10-15 07:31:13 UTC
I experience the same since upgrading to unstable libX11. I've attached a modified ebuild and a patch which remove the offending keysym definition from gv; works like a charm for me.

Comment 5 Carl Michal 2011-01-14 22:41:18 UTC
This is now a problem with stable libX11 and stable gv.

Any chance of getting the patch applied in portage? The patch does fix it for me.
