I have tried this with numerous Gentoo bootable LiveCDs burned with both Nero
and Roxio and both have the following symptoms:

When I boot into Gentoo's installation, I cannot run emerge, genkernel, and I'm
sure other commands.  I always get the "bash: XXXXXX: command not found" error
message.   This makes no sense because I can browse to the /bin directories and
plainly see 'emerge' listed in the programs, but still a ./emerge does not work.
 I have tried all CDs on three different Pentium 4 machines with very different
setups (one a Dell Desktop, another Dell laptop, another a machine I built with
an Asus motherboard) and all give me the same message.  It is surprising that
this is happening on EVERYTHING for me and no one has yet even posted anything
about it on the forums, so there is a possibility that I am doing something
wrong.  But if my understanding is correct, you should be able to run emerge as
soon as you boot to the CD.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Boot to the Gentoo CD and press enter at the boot screen
2.Type emerge and press enter.  Get "command not found" message
3.Type genkernel and press enter.  Get "command not found" message

Actual Results:  
Kept getting "command not found" message, even when trying to run the
executables directly (that I can obviously see in teh folder by a simple 'ls')

Expected Results:  
It shoudl have run both programs when the command was typed.

As I said I think the machine info is irrelevent because I have tried it on
three machines with very different configurations and I have tried three
different disks from three different ftp mirrors burned with 2 different ISO
softwares.  The problem is consistent on all counts.

emerge/genkernel/etc... are not on the livecd, they're in the stages

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
