It seems to be the same bug I reported upstream: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24531 I use paludis, and had this bug. I fixed it by doing 'cave resolve -cx wine', which is about equivalent to 'emerge -uD wine'. Perhaps this is a dependency issue? --James emerge -vDuN @world && emerge -v wine fixed it. Please close. (In reply to comment #3) > emerge -vDuN @world && emerge -v wine fixed it. Please close. > Same error as before, keep open (problem unsolved) Sorry, I forgot to mention emerge -v @preserved-rebuild (or revdep-rebuild). (In reply to comment #5) > Sorry, I forgot to mention emerge -v @preserved-rebuild (or revdep-rebuild). > I always do "revdep-rebuild" after an "emerge -avuDN world". For the sake of this bug though I did it again. Same result as before, the bug is still present. post all related info in the bug itself. do not link to external sites. does re-emerging wine fix the issue ? (In reply to comment #7) > post all related info in the bug itself. do not link to external sites. > > does re-emerging wine fix the issue ? > re-emerging does not fix the problem. as I get it though from the external page somebody claims it to be openssl causing troubles but I hardly belief this as openssl has nothing to do with string handling in wine. I did not claim that was openssl which caused the problem. But I upgraded openssl and so I had to rebuild lots of packages because of revdep-rebuild. One of them may be the problem. (In reply to comment #9) > I did not claim that was openssl which caused the problem. But I upgraded > openssl and so I had to rebuild lots of packages because of revdep-rebuild. One > of them may be the problem. What is strange is that I see such a behavior only in Wine and nowhere else. So my bet is on a bug in Wine either caused upstream or due to GenToo patches. stop uselessly quoting comments. no one mentioned openssl here. after you re-emerge wine, do you still see garbled paths in the display ? What is quoting for? So you know what comment you answer too. How can this be useless? Anyways... As I said in #8 (where I "answered" this question but as it looks like even by quoting it people don't "read"), yes the problem persists after re-emerging wine as well as revdep-rebuild. quoting is useful if you know to use it. you arent. it's a good thing you quoted "answer" as your comment was not clear as to what wasnt fixed. stop wasting time on semantics and simply answer the questions posed to you. post a full build log as an attachment. What the? This is conventional forum/mail quoting style as used anywhere on the Internet so people know "what" you answered too (and if you didn't get that this had been an answer... should I place next time a neon sign around it or what?). If you are using "abnormal" quoting rules than please write them on the entry page and don't go attack people in a rude way or is this kindergarden here? So please cut the rude tone, thanks. So back to the bug, here the build log as requested. it's quite simple: cut your crap or seek help elsewhere. your build log shows you only compiled it and didnt install it. see if other versions of wine show the same problem. |
