Our firefox-3.6.9-r1 package already has these fixes provided by 3.6.10 But firefox-3.6.9-r1 still reports 3.6.9 as its version, which can be a bit confusing for users who know that latest release is 3.6.10 (In reply to comment #2) > But firefox-3.6.9-r1 still reports 3.6.9 as its version, which can be a bit > confusing for users who know that latest release is 3.6.10 > For a two patch change, I can not warrant the user being forced to download 40+M of source code. Most users keep the source code around for a while which makes using two patches on 3.6.9 much more realistic. A simple read of the changelog would have made you aware of what each patch does and been more then efficient in allowing a user to determine that the package is actually 3.6.10. *** Bug 340633 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** If you like, you can simply bypass firefox-3.6.9-r1 if you create your own ebuilds xulrunner-1.9.2.10.ebuild and firefox-3.6.10.ebuild in your local repository. A simple copy from xulrunner-1.9.2.9.ebuild and firefox-3.6.9.ebuild worked for me (amd64). This is the reason why I love to use Gentoo. You are free to do what you want to do. |
