Description Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-13 21:07:09 UTC
Since portage-2.1.9 [1], package.keywords file is deprecated. package.accept_keywords should be used instead

Please update documentation

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=3&chap=3

Maybe there are other places that refer to package.keywords as well

I would wait until after portage-2.1.9.x is marked stable before updating the docs, since package.accept_keywords isn't supported by earlier versions. With portage-2.1.9.x the package.keywords file still works fine, and it doesn't trigger any deprecation warnings.

Definitely. We only document stable packages and stable Portage versions. Do reopen in a month or two once 2.1.9 goes stable. Thanks!

Portage 2.1.9.24 was recently stabilized: http://bugs.gentoo.org/346819

Still not stable on ppc64. Also, we need the installation media to start shipping with it, otherwise we'll break the docs if we have differing instructions in the handbook compared to the rest of our guides.

I fixed all references in the guides and handbooks in /doc/en/. I guess the future is now the present, so I need to change p.keywords on my own boxes!
