If I try to start X11, I get:

Read what you posted carefully:

NVRM: The NVIDIA probe routine was not called for 1 device(s).
NVRM: This can occur when a driver such as _nouveau_

you're trying to use "nvidia" and "nouveau" at the same time...
Unload nouveau and load nvidia.
