I tried to install linux from the Gentoo linux 1.4 distribution cd that 
acompanied the november issue of linux format magazine. The instaltion crshed 
when it was unable to load support for the apm bios. This is for a Toshiba 
Laptop Satellite Series MOdel # 2805-S202

Have you tried to manually load apm module, or maybe your
not getting this far?
