For this next version I would like to suggest removing "--with-match-limit-recursion=8192" from econf or maybe adding a USE flag to disable this. A lot of security software uses libpcre for evaluating network packet data (ex. snort). Having access to the default recursion limit is important for these applications. I have been seeing some oddness with my snort sensors and pattern matching and I think it is related to this hard codded limit in the ebuild. Please test the 8.10 ebuild just added to overlay "betagarden". I have added a use flag "recursion-limit" to the ebuild of 8.10. Thanks this is fixed in main tree now. |
