confirm same error with 1.8.5-r1 and 1.8.6:
ERROR: In procedure dynamic-link:
ERROR: file: "libtest-asmobs", message: "file not found"

It is fixed upstream:
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=guile.git;a=commit;h=a0aa1e5b69d6ef0311aeea8e4b9a94eae18a1aaf

1.8.7 builds fine.
Comment 2 Luca Lesinigo 2010-09-02 08:45:01 UTC
same here on:
  stable amd64/hardened gcc-4.3.4
  stable hppa gcc-4.4.4-r1

dev-scheme/guile-1.8.5-r1 fails with FEATURES=test, while guile-1.8.7 emerges and runs fine. I've switched all of my systems to that version and asked for stabilization (see bug #335657) - I'm not gonna bother with 1.8.5-* anymore and I'd suggest you guys do the same.
Comment 3 Martin Walch 2010-12-30 19:53:32 UTC
Looks to me like the same as bug #295093.
Comment 4 Luca Lesinigo 2012-09-24 09:59:56 UTC
All archs that are stable for this 1.8.5-r1 are also stable for newer 1.8.x ebuilds, and all archs that are unstable for this 1.8.5-r1 are also unstable or even stable for newer ebuilds.

I think it should be fair to close this bug and maybe get rid of some older ebuilds?

You're right, thanks for your vigilance.

The scheme herd currently lacks manpower to remove old packages (and also to add new ones). I think it is better to keep this bug open as long as guile-1.8.5 versions are still in the tree. When we will remove those versions, then this bug could be marked OBSOLETE.
