Description chrulri 2010-08-17 20:44:36 UTC
Hello

I'd like to ask about this ebuild and why it isn't anymore in portage.
See: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323635

Instead of 6.10.56 only 6.10.58 is in portage, which is currently known as unstable (use only for testing). See: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

I have big trouble to get 6.10.58 working but none with 6.10.56 which is the recommended version by BOINC.

Why is ebuild for 6.10.56 deleted?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge --sync
2. emerge -av =sci-misc/boinc-6.10.56*
Actual Results:
sci-misc/boinc-6.10.56 does not exist

Expected Results:
sci-misc/boinc-6.10.56 should be emerged

Current workaround: did a snapshot of the svn tag http://boinc.berkeley.edu/svn/tags/boinc_core_release_6_10_56/ and copied the ebuild from 6.10.58

Created attachment 244227 [details]
ebuild overlay

if previously boinc-10.6.58(-r1) was installed do following:

- download attachment
# mkdir -pv /usr/portage/local
# tar xjf boinc-10.6.56-ebuild.tar.bz2 -C /usr/portage/local
# emerge -av =sci-misc/boinc-10.6.56
# /etc/init.d/boinc start
# boinccmd --passwd `cat /var/lib/boinc/gui_rpc_auth.cfg` --get_state

:-)

the dist file is created with the generate_tarball.sh script and is located at http://cu.ulrichnet.ch/gentoo/boinc-6.10.56.tar.bz2
it would be great if this could be moved to the gentoo servers

P.S.: typo... it should be 6.10.56 not 10.6.56 ;-)
Comment 3 Kacper Kowalik (Xarthisius) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-13 20:18:42 UTC
6.10.58 is recommended version
Comment 4 chrulri 2010-11-14 11:42:01 UTC
true, so this can be closed.
