Steadfast Networks is willing to offer a public community mirror of rsync content for portage, though the site indicates this is not really needed at this time.  In spite of this, I figured I would offer to maintain the mirror and see if it's wanted.

It's live now, at rsync://mirror.steadfast.net/gentoo-portage

The server is on a Dual Opteron 2212 with 8 GB of RAM and 1000 Mbps connection as well as IPv6.  It is located in Chicago, IL, US.

If you are interested in adding the mirror into the rotation, please let me know.  If not, please advise as well.

I have put your server into our monitoring system so we can check it for the
next 2 weeks.  If everything looks okay, you will be put into the official
rotation.
