Description Miguel Hermanns 2003-11-12 10:24:19 UTC
I tried to install Gentoo 1.4 using the existing liveCDs, but the CD is unable
to finish the booting process (it hangs). I have tried the 2.4.x one and the new
2.6.0 one, but both fail.

I think it is something related to the SATA support in the kernel, because the
Knoppix 3.3 CD is able of booting without problems.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put the LiveCD into the cdrom drive
2. Try all the booting options and parameters

Actual Results:
The booting process hangs.

Expected Results:
Boot on my hardware

My hardware is:

MSI 875P Neo mainboard
P4 2.8Ghz HT
Seagate Barracuda SATA 120GB attached to the ICH5 controller

As I said, the Knoppix CD works without problems.

Have you tried a 2004.0 livecd?
