could you please attach the config.log file, as well as specify what version of dev-db/unixODBC you have installed (and if dev-db/unixODBC works on your system).

I noticed this on my system too when tried to emerge openldap. The emerge failes failes because the unixODBC is not installed on my system. So the big question is: why the emerge doesn't try to emerge unixODBC first? That's the bug here.

unixODBC is in the depend list.
