Did you do an "emerge sync" first, before trying to emerge kde? This will bring your portage tree up to date, and give you the latest versions of everything. GRP install is about OFFLINE instalation. The portage tree is on CD1. There is explicitly writen in install.html that you do not have to do emerge sync. That's the nature of GRP install, if I understand it correctly. Ok, I'll let drobbins work on this one then, but, FWIW, KDE 3.1.3, which is the kde version on 1.4 version of gentoo doesn't not have these depdendencies listed. It was fixed in 3.1.4 and above, though most people typically have libart and libfam emerged via other means, which is why it's probably not more widespread. Hm. OK. I am reporting it as GRP failure. It is extremely annoying for those who hardly downloaded CD images (I know network installation is prefered..), and then install gets into troubles like this. Therefore next iso release should be fixed and probably better tested in this way... This was also reported by me as Bug# 29223 on the 20/9/2003. Some more info there. I was searching trough database but without luck... Then I am marking this one as duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 29223 *** I apologise for this bugspam, but I wish to close this product, so I need to move all the bugs. |
