I added pdb stop (import pdb; pdb.set_trace()) just before where the crash takes place: /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/eric4/QScintilla/Terminal.py
the output is:

I suspect the problem is with x11-libs/qt-core-4.6.3 update (/usr/include/qt4/QtCore/QProcess), but I cannot downgrade qt-core to find out.

Updates:

Monday: Upgraded to dev-util/eric-4.4.7 but the problem continued

Tuesday: # emerge --sync | emerge -u world
eric4 doesn't crash any more.
I tried to downgrade some packages, but I can't reproduce the crash.

Conclusion: from my point of view the bug (if such) can be closed.
