The example lilo.conf shown in the x86 Installation Guide has the line map=/boot/map
and it should be map=/boot/.map. The dot before map is missing.

Since what version is this the case? I can't find any information about this anywhere; all google hits return /boot/map, not /boot/.map...

Any URLs?

When I installed gentoo 1.4 off the cd, the example lilo.conf and the filename put on the boot partition is .map not map. That is all I know about it.

Very weird. That shouldn't be happening, and I can't find anyone else that has this same situation (asked it twice on #gentoo). What lilo version (well, package version) do you have?

You can see that with "emerge -s lilo".

Bug time-out.
