Post your 'emerge  --info'.
It may be just a parallel make/ccache problem.
If it's not, it's rather strange - -fno-PIC is
added by the package and it doesn't look like it caused problems before.

Oops, I've missed that.

Still, test for parallel make/ccache problems.

hardened might play a role here, also check binutils.
