sys-devel/gcc-4.4.3-r2 seems to be unstable on amd64. Multiple emerge -e system/world calls across three different servers are randomly failing in different locations in the tree.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install sys-devel/gcc-4.4.3-r2
2. rebuild system and world using emerge -e
3. Notice crashes in larger packages

Actual Results:  
A fully rebuilt system using gcc 4.4.3-r2

Expected Results:  
gcc randomly crashing with the following error:

I have three machines that are amd64. None of these machines are currently being used for production. All other servers are x86.

Two of the servers are new, and slated to go into production. These two servers are a Dell PowerEdge 2900 and a Dell PowerEdge 2970.

The 2900 has these processors:
2 x quad-core Xeon "Hapertown" E5430 @ 2.66GHz 

The 2970 has these processors:
2 x quad-core AMD Opteron "Shanghai" 2378 @ 2.40GHz

The third machine is used for web development, and is an older PowerEdge 2850. It has these processors:
2 x Xeon "Nocona" w/Hyper-threading @ 3.00Ghz 

I've seen gcc crash in findutils, gcc, glib, glibc across all different machines. The AMD processor seems more prone to this than the E5430 machine. The most recent crash report was on the E5430 machine, however.

I've run emerge -e many times across all machines to make sure they are stable with this version of gcc. They are generally simple setups with no GUI or any such.

Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of build logs because I had fail-clean enabled in features. I have since rectified that and they are all going through emerge right now (except the E5430 which crashed with glib).

Fail in which way? This might be a combination of use flags + profile + other stuff as well. Is there a build.log as a reference?
