Did you update any qt or kde packages after upgrading the gcc version? What gcc version were you using before?
After upgrading gcc you may need to rebuild all of Qt and kdelibs.

This happened during the "emerge -eav world" run of the gcc upgrade guide.
Unless on that day some update was pulled in by accident, no. I'll go through the emerge.log later (~1000 packages).

System is mostly stable, with ~amd64 kde and the kde overlay.

I run gcc stable, i.e. the upgrade was from gcc-4.3.4.

That should have happened in right order with the "emerge -eav world" command, I guess.

Anyway. It seems the problem is not reproducible. I just tried, and kde-base/kdepim-runtime-4.4.3 emerged fine this time. ???

I'll leave the bug open, but feel free to resolve it as worksforme or invalid if you think that fitting.

Resolving (4.4.4 emerged fine...)
