pe-format2 is a set consisting of a pe-format-like init script and a wrapper executable. It can be used to set up handlers for various types of PE executables (i.e. MSDOS/Win32/.NET ones) and executes them through the wrapper. Thus, user is no longer limited to use only one type of PE binaries through binfmt_misc.

submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely
manner. There are simply too many new packages.

Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The 
sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to 
commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry 
into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this 
and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =)

The ebuild has been committed to the Sunrise overlay as 'sys-apps/pe-format2'.

A blocker for pe-format2 has been included to provide and easier migration for people running this, but I plan to remove it in the following months

Thanks, I've added an updates entry and a package mask in Sunrise to help the migration too [1]. I've tested it and it works great (assuming >=portage-2.1.9) even if user has both old dev-dotnet/pe-format and sys-apps/pe-format2 in his/her world file.
