Summary: fix for usbmidi causing Bug 28115 (starting hotplug spits out modules.usbmap unparsable line and all of ENV
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Jonathan Kraut <krautj>
Component: [OLD] baselayoutAssignee: Greg Kroah-Hartman (RETIRED) <gregkh>
Status: VERIFIED NEEDINFO
Severity: normal CC: flash3001, vigor, x86-kernel
Priority: High

OS: Linux

Description Jonathan Kraut 2003-10-26 15:19:55 UTC
The file,
/etc/hotplug/usb/ezusbmidi.usermap
from this package seems incorrectly formatted. When starting hotplug, the errors:

modules.usbmap unparsable line
modules.usbmap unparsable line
spew of ENV again and again

as reported in Bug 28115 occurs.
Note hotplug still functions with the midisport, it's just messy looking.

It can be fixed by replacing "ezusbmidi.usermap" in this ebuilds ${FILESDIR}
with the attachment, which is actually in the package.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge usbmidi
2. /etc/init.d/hotplug start/restart
3. copious output of env variables and functions

Expected Results:
* Starting USB and PCI hotplugging... [ ok ]

Guys, anybody else that have hardware like this, or less load audio/kernel
side? Else I will take it, but it may be a while to get to it ...

What version of hotplug are you seeing these errors for?
Have you tried the latest version?
Comment 5 Jonathan Kraut 2004-10-12 12:13:17 UTC
this old bug was for hotplug version 20030501-r2 as reported in Bug 28115. Using hotplug-20040401, everything is fine.
Comment 6 Greg Kroah-Hartman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-12 12:22:46 UTC
And how about the latest version, sys-apps/hotplug-20040923 ?
Comment 7 Jonathan Kraut 2004-10-12 12:34:42 UTC
yep, sys-apps/hotplug-20040923 works fine too
