I have discovered, that this only happens when sys-devel/binutils is built with the "multitarget" USE-flag enabled. I can't confirm this with recent wine, are you still experiencing this? If not, I'll mark it is obsolete since the applicable ebuilds are no longer available. Thanks in advance for the update.
