Description Giampaolo Tomassoni 2010-05-13 08:46:17 UTC
What happened to these packages?

app-antivirus/f-prot and app-antivirus/bitdefender-console simply disappeared from the portage tree.
Comment 1 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-05-13 09:16:47 UTC
They got masked for security, with notification, then removed from Portage because they are vulnerable. You can still find the old ebuilds here, if you don't mind running vulnerable software,

Well, I didn't see any notification at all. But anyway, if you are referring to bug#233928, this is my own result downloading and running f-prot 6.3.3 from http://www.f-prot.com/download/trial_forms/linux-ws-tgz.html .

This, instead, is some malware which ClamAV doesn't still detects (and there are some which are about 1 month olds...)

Regarding BDC, I see now BitDefender probably changed policy and, well, it after all wasn't that effective compared to f-prot: I'm not going to miss it that much.
