Description Kris Kersey (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-23 20:05:01 UTC
When playing mp3 files with mpg123, sound is very "messed up". It sound slow and "under water". When starting up xmms, I get the following message:

/usr/lib/xmms/Input/libmpg123.so: undefined symbol: mpg123_synth_1to1_mmx

Software Versions:
media-sound/xmms-1.2.8
media-sound/mpg123-0.59s-r1
Comment 1 Kris Kersey (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-23 20:27:56 UTC
I wanted to clarify that this is for amd64.
Comment 2 Shahar Goldin 2003-10-23 22:21:13 UTC
what sound card? Driver? do wav/au files work?
Comment 3 Kris Kersey (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-23 22:39:27 UTC
Sound Blaster Audigy, Kernel 2.6.0-test7, ALSA, ogg vorbis files play fine
from ogg123 and xmms.

mpg123 "r" series works fine for me.
Comment 4 Daniel Ahlberg (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-11 05:17:13 UTC
The problem is that --enable-simd is passed on to ./configure, there are
probably some mmx code that are incompatible with amd64. Hardcoding --disable-simd
enables xmms to play mp3s.
Comment 5 Kris Kersey (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-12 21:19:00 UTC
Verified that passing --disable-simd to xmms build does enable mp3s to play with xmms.
