in /usr/lib64/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/ruby-prof-0.8.1/lib/ruby-prof.rb line 1:

require File.dirname(__FILE__) + "/../ext/ruby_prof" # .so

but ruby_prof.so is installed into the lib/ dir as well.

Thanks for the report. Fixed in ruby-prof 0.8.2-r1.
