We're glad to provide the rsync mirror for portage ( rsync://linux.ntcu.net/gentoo-portage ) and distfiles ( rsync://linux.ntcu.net/gentoo-distfiles )

The mirror can also be access by ftp procotol at ftp://linux.ntcu.net/dists/gentoo/

I've added 211.76.240.242 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org.
You should be able to sync with it in about 30 minutes.  Please update 
your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back 
here when you've done so.  We'll monitor the server for a couple days 
to make sure things are working fine.

For the distfiles mirror, I'll send some instructions on how to access 
the private mirror.  Let me know when you're syncing from it and I'll 
update the webpage.

We have changed the script to sync portage tree with
rsync1.us.gentoo.org and proper distfiles mirror.
Now we sync protage tree and distfiles once per hour.
Hope it wouldn't generate too heavy load.

Can you sync the portage tree at :00 and :30 UTC time and the
distfiles every 4 hours beginning at midnight local time?

and distfiles every four hour.

Thanks.  I'm monitoring the portage mirror and will add your distfiles
mirror information the next time I update the web page (probably a couple
of days).  Will post back when I have information on the portage mirror.

This portage mirror is rsync1.tw.gentoo.org.  Please update the 
motd file to include that information.  A DNS entry for .tw needs 
to be created by someone else, so it may be a day or two before 
I can activate it.

Your distfiles mirror should show up on the website soon (30 minutes,
a couple of hours, I'm not certain).  I've subscribed <yjchou at 
linux.nctu.edu.tw> to our gentoo-mirrors mailing list (low volume).  
This list is used to discuss mirror-related issues.

DNS entries now exist for .tw and this server as rsync1.tw.gentoo.org.
Including rsync1.tw.gentoo.org in the motd will be helpful for tracking
problems in the future.
