We should add USE=-python to the bootstrapping docs. And drop the "this is for linux only" line such that every arch does it. fixed in docs. Verified, bootstrapping on Linux works for me now, using http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gentoo-alt/prefix/bootstrap-solaris.xml |
Platform is SUSE Enterprise 10.2. Bootstrapping fails at the `emerge --oneshot --nodeps file' stage: make[2]: Entering directory `/local/scratch/portage/sys-apps/file-5.04/work/file-5.04' make[2]: Nothing to be done for `all-am'. make[2]: Leaving directory `/local/scratch/portage/sys-apps/file-5.04/work/file-5.04' make[1]: Leaving directory `/local/scratch/portage/sys-apps/file-5.04/work/file-5.04' * '/local/tmp/k/usr/bin/python' is not valid symlink. * Use `eselect python set ${python_interpreter}` to fix this problem. * ERROR: sys-apps/file-5.04 failed: * '/local/tmp/k/usr/bin/python' is not valid symlink This problem has occurred since 2010-03-26 and possibly earlier; I haven't had the time to follow up.
