I also have this message but when the main screen shows up, the recognized version is 0.5.2 and I am able to play online. What do you mean by unusable ? In the main screen it tells me, as it should, that it is version 0.5.2, but the server list is empty so I'm unable to play. I would say the issue is somewhere else because I got the exact same issue now but I've played teeworlds like 12 hours ago... Maybe the main server is down ? (the one where you get the servers list) Are you able to get it working with the binary version from teeworlds.com ? It doesn't work either.
