I forgot to mention that I'm upgrading from 4.9.4.
Comment 3 Alex Veber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-17 11:00:02 UTC
can you try with other C[XX]FLAGS? or maybe if you have time with a diffrent
compiler?
Comment 4 Hartwig Brandl 2003-10-17 18:53:43 UTC
well, I tried setting myopts to disable jabber. since it said something about
jabber failling. now it fails with icq.

I'll try with i686 and no other flags now.
Comment 5 Hartwig Brandl 2003-10-17 19:01:15 UTC
just noticed something that could possibly be the source of the problem:

i've got a k6-2, this is a i586.
however the output reads:
 -O2 -mcpu=i686 -pipe -c

thus the compilation should not succeed.
any clue where this is set?
Comment 6 Alex Veber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-18 04:25:42 UTC
centericq is a c++ progrem, you need to set correct CXXFLAGS in /etc/make.conf
Comment 7 Hartwig Brandl 2003-10-18 06:27:43 UTC
ok, noticed that my CXXFLAGS where commented out.
guess they have been since the beginning of this install (~6 months)
don't know why I never have gotten into trouble before.
currently emerging 4.9.7.
will add an update when he has finished compiling.
Comment 8 Hartwig Brandl 2003-10-19 06:55:03 UTC
i think this can be seen as resolved.
although I still am unable to compile it.
i'm working remote on the pc and i always get logged out during the compile.
when I relogin later, and try to reattach the screen session, it is dead.
still I think this should be marked as resolved, since this problem is no
longer related.
Comment 9 Alex Veber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-19 10:44:54 UTC
closing.
