Hi,

when i felt a bit bored i emerged the newest masked portage and python 2.3 and i unmerged python 2.2 (!). unfortunally my next call to emerge (# emerge nvidia-kernel) failed,because python2.2 could not be found. so i unpacked the portage sources and replaced python2.2 with python2 in files which needed python2.2 for execution (namely setup.py and emergehelp.py). now everything works..at least i haven't noticed errors. i think what i did is more a quick and dirty hack,but i wanted to point you to the problem.
