Description Marcin Kowalski 2010-03-19 20:21:53 UTC
after installing new zlib, elinks hangs on opening pages from servers with gz support, firefox as well (it looks like clicking the links does nothing).

manually installing vanilla zlib-1.2.4 (no patches) seems to fix the problem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install zlib-1.2.4
2. try various sites with elinks or firefox
3. the open, but deeper links do nothing, or they do not open at all.
4. install zlib-1.2.4 by hand, restart firefox
5. sites start working again
6. reinstall zlib 1.2.4 from portage, restart firefox
7. sites are broken again

etc etc
Actual Results:
browsers do not respond to certain links, firefox hangs at "loading"

Easy way to be sure is to drop "-O2 -march=athlon64-sse3" and try something like "-O2 -march=athlon64" or even "-O1 -march=athlon64" for zlib compilation...
Comment 4 Marcin Kowalski 2010-03-21 09:26:44 UTC
no, the proposed solution doesn't help.

i think it's an elinks-only bug, related to new zlib. i'll try posting a new one, about elinks.

firefox actually works, but it takes a bit longer to display the page.
