diff of the two ps files.
Did a bit more digging on this. Seems that it is a problem with hplip-3.10.2 and hplip-3.9.12-r1 as reverting back to hplip-3.9.8-r3 is what it takes to fix the problem. verified that it is an issue with the hplip-3.10.2 driver.
