When I start VLC, nothing happens. No GUI, even after waiting say, 2 minutes.

Am I missing something here?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge media-video/vlc-1.0.5
2. Try listening to a streaming audio station, with VLC as your primary player.
3. No GUI appears. It just seems to hang.

Actual Results:  
No GUI appears. It just seems to hang.


Expected Results:  
VLC is my favorite media player. Would love to have it working again!
