Summary: gimp-print 4.3.21 only prints blank pages with Epson C70 (USB) and cups

Runtime testing required: ---

Description Harri Salokorpi 2003-10-08 02:59:43 UTC
When I try to print anything (test page or something via lpd or kprinter) the
printer spews out blank page. This seems to be specific to gimp-print 4.3.21,
since gimp-print-4.2.5-r2 and foomatic with epson "generic" driver print ok.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Epson C70 printer to USB port.
2. Setup CUPS to use gimp-print Epson C70 driver and USB
3. Print

Actual Results:
Printer starts printing, moves the head once and spews out a blank page

Expected Results:
Test page should be printed

No other errors. Obvious solution would be to downgrade the gimp-print to stable
version 4.2.5-r2.

Almost forgot: I used "ppds" use flag when emerging gimp-print

try gimp-print-4.2.5-r1
Comment 3 Harri Salokorpi 2003-10-08 07:11:37 UTC
I am currently using 4.2.5-r2 which works fine. Problem is that portage wants
to upgrade gimp-print to 4.3.21 every time I run emerge -up world. This is
irritating, but not fatal.

The real question is, should gimp-print 4.3.21 be marked stable? It doesn't
work for me, and cursory glance to forums.gentoo.org shows that other people
seem to have trouble with it.
