[sigh] Okay, I commented out texinfo in package.mask and this time it took four minutes to build instead of almost four hours of re-compiling gcc-3.1-r4. So--is it worth asking why 'emerge sys-apps/texinfo' recompiled gcc-3 instead of being masked out the way it should have been? It's been a very annoying day here in gcc-3-land. I'm going to have a cup of tea and then perhaps a tumbler of scotch before retiring. I believe the problem was a virtual problem, with the current profiles, masks and packages do you still have this problem? THanks. I don't know. I went back to gcc 2.9x several months ago, but my impression is that it was only a problem to people who were switching compiler versions. thanks, bug go squish, and BTW there is going to be a complete version conversion script available for gentoo-1.4 :) |
