Description Kenneth Miller 2010-02-19 05:19:03 UTC
I did an emerge --depclean that removed an older version of gcc. Next I did a revdep-rebuild which failed on all emerges to fix broken links for no C compiler.
I think emerge should update /etc/env.d/gcc/config-i686-pc-linux-gnu or your flavor of architecture when it removes old gcc builds. Manually updating my env.d for the current gcc on my system solves the problem.
Or is this one of the problems I should be aware of if I use --depclean?

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
did not update /etc/env.d/gcc/config-i686-pc-linux-gnu to the current installed version of gcc

Expected Results:
/etc/env.d/gcc/config-i686-pc-linux-gnu is updated to reflect the current version of gcc installed on the system

gcc removed was version 4.3.4
current gcc version is 4.4.3
