Sorry. USER="$rtorrent" should read as USER="rtorrent" I cannot find any info on the scgi_port option. Where did you find it? Are you sure it's a valid option? It not existing could explain why rtorrent refuses to start :) Here's the official documentation, am I wrong? http://libtorrent.rakshasa.no/wiki/RTorrentXMLRPCGuide I tried reproducing this bug and with both scgi_port set and daemon I am able to run /etc/init.d/rtorrent and connect to scgi_port (at least with netcat). Could you perhaps include your rtorrent.rc? Also check if there is not anything else listening on that port (just in case) Can't reproduce and no information from reporter. Closing.
