yes we know about releases, gives us some time. Another question : do you _use_ this ? I mean, do you use it beyond it being installed on your system ? Well it's a dependency of anjuta so I thought I'd report it, but now I know that I was being far too hasty and it isn't so big of a deal for me so I apologise for it. not of any anjuta in portage Well that's odd because when I do emerge -pv anjuta the output is this: These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! [ebuild N ] dev-util/ctags-5.5-r1 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/ORBit-0.5.17 -nls [ebuild N ] sys-libs/db-1.85-r1 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/gnome-libs-1.4.2 -doc -nls -kde [ebuild N ] dev-libs/libxml-1.8.17-r2 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/oaf-0.6.10 -nls [ebuild N ] gnome-base/gconf-1.0.8-r5 -nls [ebuild N ] gnome-base/gnome-common-1.2.4-r3 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/gnome-vfs-1.0.5-r3 +ssl -nls [ebuild N ] media-libs/gdk-pixbuf-0.22.0-r2 -doc +mmx [ebuild N ] media-gfx/gnome-iconedit-1.2.0-r5 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/gnome-print-0.37 -nls [ebuild N ] gnome-base/bonobo-1.0.22 -nls [ebuild N ] gnome-base/libglade-0.17-r6 -nls -bonobo [ebuild N ] dev-util/anjuta-1.0.2 gnome-config is usefull, it's not only to fill the disk with useless junk it includes gnome-autogen.sh for example, which is used by several apps. (most time, when compiling gnome stuff from CVS) it's not high priority, but we could just hope they did some fixes since the gnome 1.2 days. even if few, they might be worth updating from the changelog, it is not just a version change, they did fix something apps i found using it : in portage : gnome-base/gnome-vfs/gnome-vfs-1.0.5-r3.ebuild net-mail/evolution/evolution-1.2.4.ebuild net-mail/evolution/evolution-1.2.3.ebuild anjuta 1.0 was just removed from portage out of portage : apotheke CVS anjuta2 CVS /home/leroutier/CVS/apotheke/apotheke/autogen.sh: echo "You need to install gnome-common from the GNOME CVS" /home/leroutier/CVS/anjuta/anjuta2/anjuta2/autogen.sh: echo "You need to install gnome-common from the GNOME CVS" /home/leroutier/CVS/anjuta/anjuta2/anjuta2/plugins/gnome-project-types/gnome-application-templates/autogen.sh.template: echo "You need to install gnome-common from the GNOME CVS" This is in fact a very useful package for developers. I can see how this can be considered an important dep for packages like Anjuta. gnome-common-2.4.0 is now in Portage marked as ~x86. Thanks for your report. also changed the anjuta-1.1.97 ebuild to RDEPEND on it ? or should i open a new bug-report ? seems this DEPEND was removed when making the 1.0 => 1.1 ebuild surely because of the version number. the one that did the 1.1 ebuild saw it could compile anjuta without it. it's because it's a RDEPEND, not a DEPEND forget this last point about anjuta missing RDEPEND : i filled a separate bug report : #30879 http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30879 but none of these packages needs this version per-se, that is my point. The old version will do just fine. Can't people just drop a case for a while instead of starting to post an insane amount of comments on a trivial matter. |
