There are bin packages for some applications like an OOo, Firefox, Thunderbird and some other. For Firefox there is mozilla-firefox-bin. The only media player plugin that is available (gecko-mediaplayer) has no bin package and depends on xulrunner. Can I request any binary package for it? Installing mozilla-firefox-bin and then compiling xulrunner makes very little sense...

You can always ask but it won't happen. Those packages you mention download upstream prebuilt binaries and install them, where as gecko-mediaplayer doesn't provide ones, and it would be too much pain to keep them in sync (the plug-in needs code changes with every xulrunner/firefox release)
